We’re receiving a lot of questions about the FeenCon. We will provide answers to the most common ones here.

What is the FeenCon, or a convention?

The English term convention hides a special kind of meeting. In our case it’s a gathering of friends of roleplaying games, who spend hours or even days together pursuing their hobby: playing, exchanging ideas, informing themselves or gaining new knowledge in workshops and readings.

Smaller conventions are usually held in hostels or community centers, larger ones in town halls or schools. Our FeenCon, the main convention of the Gilde der Fantasy-Rollenspieler e. V., rarely had less than 1,500 visitors on a weekend in the past years. These met dozens of exhibitors (publishers, artists, authors, etc.) and dealers. At the same time, more than one hundred game rounds, readings and workshops took place in the halls and rooms of the venue and on the outside grounds.

To visit a convention, it is not necessary to be a member of a roleplaying club like the Gilde der Fantasy-Rollenspieler e. V.. Even as an interested newcomer to the hobby, who still wants to discover “his” system for himself or wants to think outside the box, a convention is always a good starting point.

Who is behind the FeenCon?

The FeenCon is an event of the Gilde der Fantasy-Rollenspieler e. V. – and this since 1990!

When will the next FeenCon take place?

Historically, FeenCon has always taken place around the first weekend of the summer vacations in North Rhine-Westphalia. This will – according to our plans – also be the case in the future.

The FeenCon 2024 will be June 29 – 30, 2023. The IGS Bonn-Beuel will again be used as the venue.

The non-binding planned dates in the following years are

  • July 5 – 6, 2025
  • July 11 – 12, 2026
  • July 10 – 11, 2027
  • July 1 – 2, 2028
  • June 23 – 30, 2029
  • June 15 – 16, 2030

I am an exhibitor (dealer, publisher, artist …) and would like to present myself at FeenCon. Where can I register?

As soon as the date for the upcoming FeenCon is set, you will find the possibility to register as an exhibitor in the menu under the item Registrations.

I would like to offer a program item (game round, workshop, reading …) at the FeenCon. Where can I register?

As soon as the date for the upcoming FeenCon is set, you will find the possibility to register as a program provider or to register a game round in the menu under the item Registrations.

I would like to participate in a game session. Where can I sign up for the game?

Approximately 4 hours before the start of the round, the game session will be public posted near the game session administration. All interested players can sign up there.

We do not have an online pre-booking for players!

Where can I stay overnight during the FeenCon?

You can stay overnight on the grounds of FeenCon in your (small) tent. However, the space is very limited. If you want to have a little bit more comfort, just have a look at hotels or apartments nearby (Bonn-Beuel).

Here we have compiled a few links for your search, or to individual accommodations for you:

Note: This list was compiled by us for you. We do not know if there are still rooms available at the accommodations, do not make any recommendations and do not receive any commission for this listing.

I would like to support or help. Where can I sign up?

An event like FeenCon needs many helpers. Helping hands are needed before, during and after the event. The venue has to be prepared – and later also dismantled. The visitors and guests want to be cared for and informed during the con and there are all kinds of other things that need to be done.

So if you can and want to help in one way or another, even if it’s just for a few hours, please contact us via our volunteer form. The earlier you sign up and the more flexible you are, the more valuable this is for us.

If you would like to support us in another way, please use the regular contact form. We will get back to you shortly.

I have booked and paid for a ticket online. When will my ticket arrive?

If you have paid for the ticket via PayPal, the ticket will be sent to you by e-mail immediately after the payment process has been completed. If you have chosen to pay by bank transfer, it should take no more than 2 working days after you have made the transfer.

Also please check your junk folder as in some cases our e-mails might be suspected as junk.

Do you have an e-mail address from Yahoo or AOL? In this case, unfortunately, our e-mails are often rejected by your e-mail service provider. Just contact us at info@feencon.de and ideally give us a phone number or alternative email address.

Are the tickets transferable? What do I have to do for that?

The tickets for FeenCon are not personalized. The crucial element is the QR code, or the serial number. If you want to pass on the ticket, just pass on the QR code.

Please note that a ticket can only be used once for admission. So make sure that no unauthorized person copies or photographs your ticket!

I have damaged or lost my admission wristband, what now?

When you enter (whether via QR code or at the box office) you will receive an admission wristband. With this wristband on your arm, you can enter the grounds or the premises of FeenCon as often as you like during the opening hours and within the scope of the validity (day ticket or season ticket; year). The wristbands are waterproof and robust and won’t break – and they shouldn’t be damaged, because …

… they are only valid if they are undamaged and correctly attached to the arm. Otherwise there is no right of entry. A damaged wristband will not be replaced for free!

Are dogs and dragons allowed at FeenCon?

The outdoor area of FeenCon is public space and dogs and dragons are allowed there. However, we urge you to keep them on a leash and to clean up any mess they may leave behind without being asked.

However, the sports fields and indoor areas are strictly off-limits for dogs and kites! For dragons we also ask for the unsolicited proof of a suitable dragon liability insurance and a dragon owner certificate from the city of Bonn.

Who actually drew the fairy for the FeenCon?

first colorized fairy
original FeenCon-Fairy by Larry Elmore

The fairy, the mascot of FeenCon, was drawn for GFR e. V. by none other than Larry Elmore. Larry has created a variety of illustrations for role-playing games (especially Dungeons&Dragons).

In the original it is a black and white line drawing usual for Elmore, which then after many years has undergone a colorization and so has accompanied the FeenCon for a long time since then.

And even though our little red-haired fairy with the blue wings has quite a few years under her belt, we’re still very proud to have her!

In 2023 we decided to refresh our fairy:
